A Travel Prize That Drove 11x Sales Return On The Event Floor
Spend $188 on Holistic Way supplements at Every Body Knows Fair, Takashimaya (6–8 Mar 2026), for a chance to win a pair of 4D3N fully sponsored Bali wellness retreat tickets
Why it worked: an aspirational reward plus a clear spend trigger pushed shoppers past their usual basket size.
[01] What was the campaign?
Holistic Way needed the Every Body Knows Fair at Takashimaya to do more than move stock at a discount. Instead of a price cut, shoppers who spent SGD 188 on Holistic Way supplements were entered into a draw for a 4D3N Bali wellness retreat worth SGD 3,399. One spend threshold, one prize, three days.
That is the whole mechanic. It is deliberately simple, because a floor staff member has to be able to explain it in a sentence and a shopper has to be able to decide in about four seconds.
[02] Why did a retreat outperform a discount?
A discount lowers the value of every transaction in the window. A prize raises the value of reaching a threshold, and it costs the same whether ten people qualify or two hundred. Holistic Way's SGD 188 threshold was set above their normal basket, so every qualifying purchase was an uplift rather than a sale they would have made anyway.
The second difference is what happens afterwards. A discount campaign ends when the fair ends. This one produced a full content set. The winners went to Bali with creators and our production crew, and the footage came back as brand assets Holistic Way still owns.
[03] What did the numbers come to?
Over the three-day activation the mechanic generated more than 170 qualifying customer purchases and more than SGD 32,000 in retail revenue, against a campaign cost that made the return eleven times over. The figures are the retailer's data across the activation window, not a modelled estimate.
The eleven-times figure is the one finance directors ask about, but the 170 purchases is the number that explains it: the campaign worked because it changed shopper behaviour at the shelf, not because the prize was expensive.
[04] What would this look like for another brand?
The three variables are the spend threshold, the prize destination and the activation length. The threshold should sit meaningfully above your current average basket. The destination has to read as genuinely winnable to your customer, which is why Bali works from Singapore and Paris usually does not, for a volume mechanic. The activation needs enough days for word to travel across the floor.
We model those three numbers against your own basket data before quoting anything. If the maths does not clear the campaign cost, we will say so.

Questions about this campaign
What was the ROI of the Holistic Way brand retreat campaign?
Eleven times the campaign cost. A three-day spend-to-win activation at Takashimaya generated over 170 qualifying customer purchases and more than SGD 32,000 in retail revenue, with a 4D3N Bali retreat worth SGD 3,399 as the prize.
How does a spend-to-win retreat pay for itself?
The prize costs the same regardless of how many people qualify, while the spend threshold lifts every qualifying basket above its normal size. Set the threshold above your current average basket and the incremental retail revenue covers the campaign, before you count the content you keep.
What spend threshold did Holistic Way use?
SGD 188 on Holistic Way supplements during the Every Body Knows Fair at Takashimaya. It was set above their normal basket size on purpose, so each qualifying purchase represented incremental revenue rather than a sale that would have happened anyway.
